Flowers, Food, Fevers, Firefighters, and Fairies

The kids are very excited to see the blooms popping up in our yard. We may have a couple of little helpers this year. Our biggest debate is if they can pick the flowers. I tell them to leave them in the ground so we can keep enjoying them, then as they are on their last leg, I will let the kids pick a couple. Mirra's persuasive tactic this morning: "Mom, can we pick a beautiful flower for you?"

Mirra asked for pesto for dinner a few nights ago. So I made some ravioli and tossed it in pesto. She loved it. She then made the observation "it looks like guacamole." Ironically, she does not like guacamole.

Drew, our very selective eater, did try a few tiny bites of guac and said that he did like it....in small doses.

Mirra has been experimenting with her meals. She places pretzel sticks in her hot dog bun and dips her nuggets in a combination of vanilla yogurt and BBQ sauce.

Unfortunately Mirra contracted pink eye late last week. She has not handled the eye drops as well as Drew. Administration has been challenging, but I believe I now have it down to an art. As soon as she stopped being contagious she started running a fever. She has been feeling rotten since Sunday and the rest of the family is dealing with allergies and/or germs as well. We had an action-packed week with friends planned for spring break and so far it has just been sneezey, snotty, and sleepy.

Just so we can end this post on a more pleasant note....we asked the kids what they want to be when they grow up. Drew wants to be a fireman and Mirra wants to be a fairy.
