Drew: Dad, why are you left-handed?
Mirra on the drive to preschool: Miss Jennie, did you know Cecilia is my bestest friend ever? Did you also know that Drew threw up?
And on the drive home from preschool:
Cecilia: Drew, why did you throw up?
Drew: I don't know, I just did.
Then they all had to discus the color of said throw up.
Me: Time for a new topic of conversation!
Drew: I'm too busy to go to school.
I don't have time for homework.
Mirra has a set of mommy and baby mermaids. She named them Hollywood and Baby Jesus.

New House
Multi-Lingual
I was driving home on rural roads one day with Mirra in the back seat. It was becoming dark outside and she requested that I turn a light on in the car so that she could see. I explained that if I turned on a light in the car, I might not see any animals in the road and we could crash.
"What kind of animals? Like elephants?" she asked, intrigued.
"No, I was thinking more along the lines of deer, raccoons..."
"Giraffes?"
"No, maybe possums."
She pauses and then tells me "I speak possum."
Trying to contain my amusement, I ask her how possums talk.
"Have you ever heard a possum talk?" she asks me.
"No" I answer.
"Well, you put your lips together in a circle and suck in some air." She demonstrates. "Then you put your lips like this and whistle." She proceeds to make a series of high-pitched squeaks.
"Wow, Mirra. I had no idea you knew a second language."
